Video - Creating cutting edge websites for phones, slates and beyond

by asli 3. May 2011 23:25

At the Web Camp event in Dubai, Ronald Widha presented a session on creating cutting edge websites for phones, slates.  It was a well designed and thought out topic, and very inspirational from a designer viewpoint.  You can watch the video and also read more about high adoption of the Windows Phone 7 platform.

Creating Cutting Edge Website for Phone, Slate and Beyond from Ronald Widha on Vimeo.

A summary of the session “The process of creating a website now always start with a question on figuring out the devices you want to support for; PCs, mobile phones and/or slate devices. Each of these devices may have different screen sizes, capabilities etc. For simplicity, designer/developer often chooses to build dedicated websites for each one of the platform which often leads to maintenance nightmare.
This talk showed how to design and develop a dynamic website for the various platforms using Responsive Design techniques. We're starting up the process with WebMatrix and transitioning to Visual Studio 2010 as we progress. We touched on Html5, CSS3, Razor, Entity Framework 4 and C#.”

11 Mart 2011.

March 11, 2011. Istanbul, Turkey. Microsoft Turkey Information Summit 2011: Cloud Power. Today nearly 4000 software developers, designers and IT professionals gathered today Istanbul’s Congress Center to learn about the latest and greatest platform technologies.   In the Web Platform track, we covered a variety of topics, including Web Matrix, ASP.NET MVC, and an overall view of Turkey’s web market.

In MEA’s 80 countries, Turkey reigns #1 for the number of web application downloads from the Web App Gallery, #1 for number of WebsiteSpark members, and again #1 for the number of applications deployed by entrepreneurs through the WebsiteSpark program.

Now Turkey has less developers than some of the other nations in MEA, yet holds 35% of the web market share. What is the reason?  I did a bit of investigating and found that the majority of sites deployed through WebsiteSpark are hosted in Turkey.  Not America, not Germany, not England. Turkey keeps their GDP in the country, thanks to some of the companies I have highlighted below.

What’s next for Turkey?  To go global!  The hosting offers from our partners, such as Radore, Doruk, and Natro, are fully capable of expanding into international waters.  Through the Microsoft Web Hosting Gallery, we can take these offers to other countries, enabling the Turkish web economy to soar to new heights!

Türkiye Girişimcılerimize  Tebrikrikler! Siteniz mutlaka Türkiye’de bulunsun ama İşiniz Dünya’ya yayılsın (Congratulations to the Entrepreneurs of Turkey who keep the Hosting Local!)
